Key to setting goals and achieving them

Dec 2nd, 2020

Today I want to share with you how to set goals and achieve them.

Studies have shown that 80% of all new year resolutions fail. While there are many reasons and barriers for failure, I want to share with you today something which is very simple and significant for you to set your goals and achieve them and that is motivation when you set your goals.

How motivated are you? what is the real reason for your motivation for you to achieve your goal?

If I set a goal of finishing a book, reading a book over the weekend, I need to ask myself what is my real motivation for me to finish this book.

During this weekend if you set a goal of trying a new dish in the kitchen, you will go out and buy all the ingredients and you will decide

to try out this new dish over the weekend. It might happen that weekends go by and the ingredients are still lying in the shelf. Time to ask yourself 'What is the real motivation for me to try this new dish?'

If your motivation is I'm going to do it one day when I am feeling bored and I want to do something different, then there's a possibility that weekends will go by and you still have not tried out that new dish.

On the other hand, if your motivation is to cook something different and enjoy a wonderful evening together with your loved ones and have dinner, then the probability is you are going to try out that new dish.

What is the difference between the two examples? In the second example, you have looked at your goal and you have found a bigger purpose, which is bigger than you and because of which you are enabled and empowered to act and to achieve.

So the next time when you set a goal, ask yourself - 'What is the real motivation?' and when you tie your goal to something, a purpose which is bigger than you, you will enable yourself and empower yourself to act and to achieve.

So when you set your goals, don't push on acting on your goal. First work on your motivation. If your motivation factor is weak, strengthen it and then act on your goal and when you do that don't be surprised when you set your goals and you achieve them.
